The annual ONA karaoke bash returns this year as the conference\u2019s official closing party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who:<\/strong> Any ONA15 attendee with a full conference badge<br \/>\n<strong>What:<\/strong> Singing your heart out<br \/>\n<strong>When:<\/strong> 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26<br \/>\n<strong>Where:<\/strong> Westside Room (Plaza Level), Hyatt Regency Century Plaza &#8212; ONA\u2019s host hotel!<br \/>\n<strong>Why:<\/strong> Help digital journalists while belting your favorite tunes<br \/>\n<strong>How:<\/strong>\u00a0With great passion and intensity<\/p>\n<p>Space is limited, so be sure to arrive on time.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h4>Fundraising<\/h4>\n<p>Similar to last year, this year\u2019s event will double as a fundraiser for ONA. We\u2019ll be using Crowdrise again, and encourage attendees to add campaigns and form teams: ONA karaoke party 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, we raised more than $3,000, including more than $2,500 for former ONA president Jim Brady to sing. He let the largest donor choose his song: \u201cI Will Survive,\u201d the 70s classic by Gloria Gaynor.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21100\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-21100\" src=\"http:\/\/ona15.journalists.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2015\/08\/jimmeredithcampaign2015-300x169.png\" alt=\"jimmeredithcampaign2015\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Donate to hear Meredith Artley and Jim Brady sing Sonny &#038; Cher at ONA15.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year current ONA President Meredith Artley and past President Jim Brady will participate in our kick-off campaign. Contribute here so we can hear them sing a duet as Sonny and Cher.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see your boss, colleagues or friends sing the song of your choice? Create a campaign to challenge them on our event page!<\/p>\n<p>All donations are tax-deductible and support ONA general programming.<\/p>\n<h4>The event<\/h4>\n<p>Donations will only be accepted before the event, so be sure to start now!<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored singers will have scheduled slots for their performance. Everyone else at the event will be able to sign up for a request on a first come, first served basis. Click \u201clogin\u201d on the top right corner and then \u201cDon&#8217;t have an account? <strong>Sign Up<\/strong>\u201d at the bottom of the overlay that appears. To create a team, click \u201cstart a fundraiser\u201d on this year\u2019s event page. To join a team, click on \u201cjoin this team\u201d on the team\/fundraiser page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recruit additional team members:<\/strong> Share the link to your team fundraising campaign on Twitter, Facebook, via email, etc. If you\u2019ve created a team, you can also go to your team page, click the \u201cManage Team\u201d tab and then click \u201cInvite Team Members.\u201d That will give you a link and text you can share.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Donate or raise money*:<\/strong> If you just want to donate, there\u2019s no need to create an account. Just click the big ol\u2019 \u201cDonate to this Fundraiser\u201d button. If you\u2019ve joined a team, you can share your page and ask friends\/colleagues to donate there so you get credit for the donation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>*Note:<\/strong> When you pay, you will see a 10 percent \u201coptional processing fee\u201d included.
