The Midway returns for its fourth year at ONA15. Part futures lab, playground and tech hub, the Midway once again will be the place to find new tools and toys for journalists.

Our global group of participants will share their experiences with next-level data and mapping tools, virtual reality, customized content curation, personalized podcasting, cutting-edge digital media integration and an opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking storytelling project.

The floor will feature 20+ hours of programming and hands-on exploration, led by returning co-patron Knight Foundation. Alley Interactive, Banjo, Chartbeat, Google, Mapstory, Muck Rack, USC’s Media Impact Project, Pew Research Center, Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, Sourcefabric, Follow the Money (National Institute on Money in State Politics), Rivet Radio and Tableau are among the returning groups with new projects, data and tech to share.

We are also excited to welcome many new participants to the Midway floor including: Automated Insights, Calkins Media, Discors, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, iCopyright,  Maps4News, Phittle, Shorthand, Viafoura and University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism — which is sponsoring our photo booth.

The Midway space this year will be adjacent to the main Exhibitor Lounge. Multiple entrances from the exhibit floor lead directly to the Midway’s 450 square feet of demos, interactive group discussions and lightning talks in the bullring.

(Like to join us? There are still two open spots left!  If you’re interested in learning more, please contact Christine Johnson, Midway Producer, at 571-212-6376 or midway@journalists.org.)

Midway hours have changed this year: The floor will be open Thursday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As always, be sure to make your way to the Midway on Thursday afternoon for a libation-related surprise.

Until then, watch for conference news via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram  via the #ONA15 hashtag.

Special thanks to the ONA15 Midway Co-Patron:
