Online Journalism Awards

The Online Journalism Awards (OJAs) were launched in May 2000 to honor excellence in digital journalism around the world. Finalists for the 2015 Online Journalism Awards, representing a wide range of nonprofit, public, academic, major media, and emerging technology organizations from around the globe, were announced in August. The winners will be announced at the Online Journalism Awards Banquet on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Los Angeles.

The ONA15 Career Fair offers two days of immersion into prime networking, job-seeking and recruiting. It will match new, mid-career and veteran digital journalists and technologists with emerging and leading media companies, organizations and schools.

Lightning talks

Bring your most innovative ideas to ONA15! We’ll host a series of rapid-fire lightning talks on Saturday, September 26. All conference attendees are welcome to apply. Submissions will open in mid-July.

Unconference

Tell us what we’ve missed! The unconference is a chance for you to propose conversations on topics we may not have covered elsewhere. You’ll be able to submit ideas in July, and conference attendees will vote on their favorite topics right through the start of ONA15. The unconference is open to all ONA15 attendees.

Student Newsroom

The Student Newsroom immerses undergraduate and graduate college students in a digital media environment by providing hands-on reporting experience during the three-day Online News Association Conference Awards Banquet. (The deadline to apply was April 27.)

HBCU Digital Media Fellowship

Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students with impressive academic and journalistic achievements are invited to apply for an all-expenses-paid trip to the ONA15 as well as a free, one-year ONA Student membership. (The deadline was July 24.)

ONA15 CNN Diversity Fellowship

Digital journalists from diverse backgrounds with experience reporting for mobile and social platforms are encouraged to apply for the ONA15 CNN Diversity Fellowship. Four winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ONA conference in Los Angeles Sept. 24-26. (The deadline to apply was Aug. 11.)

The Suggestion Box was our way of inviting ideas for topics and speakers for this year’s conference. (The Suggestion Box closed April 10.)

Volunteer

The ONA15 Volunteer Committee looks for volunteers to work before, during (and a little bit after) the conference.
