With the upcoming introduction of consumer products like the Oculus Rift, VR is on the cusp of emerging as its own unique media form — leading to perhaps another disruption in the field of journalism. Fortunately, it’s easier and cheaper to create VR stories than you think. Learn how to create immersive stories that people can step into, and capture 360 videos that make people feel like they’ve been transported to another place and time. Get tips on how to get started and a little hands-on experience with 360 videos with the help of Nonny de la Peña, dubbed by Engadget as the “Godmother of VR,” and Dan Pacheco, a producer on Gannett’s Harvest of Change project and teacher of the Newhouse School’s Virtual Reality Storytelling class.
