Amy oversees American University's MA in Media Entrepreneurship program as well as facilitates the JoLT program, linking gaming to journalism via a Knight Foundation grant. She also chairs the MJ Bear Fellowship committee and recently was among those named as local Tech Titans by Washingtonian magazine. Previously she ran the weekend MA in Interactive Journalism. Eisman was involved in mainstream and then digital media for 25 years before joining AU. For the MA/ME program, she forged a partnership with the start-up hub, 1776, for AU. Eisman was an editor with Gannett, first at the launch of USA TODAY and later as Executive Editor of USA WEEKEND. Eisman was also a managing editor at AOL and a Fulbright lecturer in Moscow. She has trained newsrooms on web content and writing. She co-chaired the 2010 Online News Association conference, and has judged the Knight-Batten award for Innovation in Journalism and the WHCA awards.
