Ben has been a database producer at the Los Angeles Times since 2007. He develops news applications for latimes.com and conducts analysis for reporting projects. He lives in downtown Los Angeles but grew up in Swisher, Iowa. He is also the founder of PastPages, an archive dedicated to the preservation of online news, and a co-founder of the California Civic Data Coalition, a team of developers dedicated to opening up public data.
