Philana is Assistant Business Editor at The Associated Press in New York where she helps oversee AP’s daily business news report, enterprise efforts and strategic initiatives across digital, video and print platforms. She also serves on the AP Stylebook committee. In 2014, Patterson implemented AP’s automation of corporate earnings stories, which are written and published without human intervention using natural language generation software. Previously, Patterson ran blackenterprise.com, the website of Black Enterprise magazine. She also worked as a stock market reporter and producer at Bloomberg News; covered the retail industry for Dow Jones Newswires and for The Daily Press in Newport News, Va.; and wrote features for The Greenville News in Greenville, S.C.
