Shareef was named Assistant News Director at WVEC-TV, TEGNA’S ABC affiliate in Norfolk, VA in June 2014. Prior to joining the team at ABC13, Shareef was the Director of Content and Coverage for WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh. He spent two years there following a five-year stint in Las Vegas as the Managing Editor/Assignment Manager for KTNV. Shareef has also held positions in television in Boston and Erie, PA. His first broadcasting job was in New York City at CBS Network News Radio. Shareef is a graduate of Allegheny College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He has won numerous Emmy Awards for his coverage and planning of breaking news. He is currently the Interim Director of Digital at WVEC while a search is underway for a replacement. Shareef has two brothers, a younger brother and a twin. He was born and raised in New Castle, PA a city north of Pittsburgh where his parents Donna and Ahmad both still live. You can always find Shareef watching sports with friends. He enjoys traveling and exercising.
